New MSCA project: Adaptive Control of Soft Robots for Personalized Upper-limb Rehabilitation with Machine Learning (ACORN-PURM)
The Universitat Rovira i Virgili has obtained, for the first time, three Marie Skłodowska-Curie (MSCA) fellowships in a single call of the Horizon Europe program. These European grants promote the training and mobility of research staff through excellence projects in fields such as engineering and information sciences, life sciences, and social sciences and humanities.
One of these fellowships has been awarded to Victoria Oguntosin, who, under the supervision of Domènec Puig, will lead the ACORN-PURM project. This initiative focuses on developing a personalized upper-limb rehabilitation system based on soft robotics and machine learning. The system will offer real-time adaptive therapy and include gamified exercises to enhance patient motivation. It is expected to enable recovery that is 10 to 15% faster and more effective than conventional therapies.
