Researchers from TecnATox Participate in a New European Project Titled ENVESOME - “The Environmental Exposome and Health”

The European project ENVESOME, in which the TecnATox research group from IISPV and URV is participating, investigates how environmental pollution (air, noise, light, and hazardous waste) affects human health, contributing to non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular disorders, respiratory issues, sleep disturbances, and mental health problems.

This project has been awarded under the HORIZON-HLTH-2024-ENVHLTH-02-06 call and has a duration of four years. Led by the National Hellenic Research Foundation, the project combines science, technology, and artificial intelligence to establish connections between pollution and diseases, offering tools to reduce risks and improve public health.

The innovations include a mobile application to monitor exposure to pollution, a support system for policymakers, and a chatbot to guide healthcare professionals.

TecnATox, led by Dr. Vikas Kumar, plays a key role in the ENVESOME project, contributing in areas such as the development of predictive models using computational toxicology and bioinformatics, the use of artificial intelligence for analyzing large datasets, the evaluation of exposure to contaminants, and policy support with tools such as decision-support systems and chatbots.
